The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Hon. Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni has interacted with the University’s young academics where he admonished them on the need to further their education, engage in research and community service.
The Vice-Chancellor made the admonishment on Tuesday, 3rd December, 2024 at the University’s Auditorium.
The young academics interacted with by the Vice-Chancellor were Graduate Assistants, Assistant Lecturers and Lecturers II who mostly started academic career with the University.
Addressing the lecturers, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Umar Adam Katsayal, mni congratulated them for securing appointments with the University, reminding them that they were considered for employment by the University out of many applicants.
He told them that, “Before you assumed duty, you all accepted the appointments after agreeing to abide by the laws and regulations of the University as well as terms and conditions of employment stated in your appointment letters”.
“It is therefore mandatory for you to respect the agreement you have entered into with the University, failure of which would attract a severe penalty.
“Being an academic requires commitments, dedication and hard work. These are important to the extent that, they can make or mar your status as employees of the University.
“It is therefore important for you to ask yourselves questions such as, am I ready to pass through the rigors of academics or not? Am I ready to commit myself to research and community service or not?”, the VC said.
He then admonished them to be more committed with a view to advancing their career and progress as academics through research, community service and further studies, emphasizing that the system could not tolerate laziness.
He further assured them that, the University under his leadership would continue to support all staff for their personal and professional developments.
