The National Universities Commission (NUC) has conducted resource verification for the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Katsina State.
The Resource Verification was conducted on Thursday, 12th October, 2023 at the permanent site of the University in Daura.
Speaking during a brief meeting with the NUC team, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni welcomed members of the team to the University and expressed his happiness with their visit.
He said that resource verification was one of the necessary stages all Universities must pass through before they could be allowed to commence academic activities by the NUC.
He stated that the University had already submitted its master plan, academic brief, and environmental impact analysis report to the NUC.
Prof. Katsayal then urged the NUC team to be meticulous and objective in their report as all their recommendations for improvement would be taken seriously by the University.
Stating the reason for their visit, the team leader of the delegation, who is a Director of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Office of the Executive Secretary, John Mairafi Ahmadu said that they were at the University to see its level of readiness in terms of personnel and facilities.
“We are not here to witch-hunt but rather to see and advise where necessary so that we can have a better educational system in Nigeria”, he stressed.
Addressing journalists after the inspection, John Mairafi Ahmadu stated that his team was satisfied with what was on the ground at the University.
“The facilities and infrastructure are generally enough for the University to commence academic activities but the University has to wait for the NUC’s final approval which will be after our report”, he cautioned.
The team under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni paid courtesy visits to Katsina State Governor, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, Speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Yahya Daura and HRH, the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman on Wednesday, 11th October, 2023 while the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR and Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar were visited on Thursday, 12th October, 2023.
