The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Mal. Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D. has pledged an unflinching support for the Federal University of Transportation, Daura.
Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Hon. Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni has condoled with Katsina State Government and the entire people of the state over the demise of Hajiya Dada Yar’adua, the mother of the late President of Nigeria, Mal. Umaru Musa Yar’adua and the serving Senator, Katsina Central, Senator Abdul’azeez Musa Yar’adua.
All these were made on Friday, 6th September, 2024 during a courtesy visit by the Management, some staff and students of the University to the Governor of Katsina State, Mal. Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, mni expressed delight for the opportunity provided to the University to pay the visit, saying that the essence was to brief the Executive Governor of the development in the University.
“We are here also, to condole with you and the entire people of Katsina State over the death of Hajiya Dada Yar’adua and also to commiserate with you on the fire incident that occurred at the Government House, Katsina some few days back.
“On the development in the University, I would like to inform His Excellency that the University had admitted about 600 students out of which about 500 registered for the first session of the University and God so kind, we are about commencing the second semester examination.
“The University had already commenced the admission process for the 2024/2025 academic session and we are expecting more students than we admitted in our first session.
“The Katsina State Government under your leadership has been supporting us and we are very much grateful for that. In fact, the Bus that brought us to the Government House today, was donated by yourself and it was the first donation the University had received since its inception.
“You have also played a significant role in the official handing over of the University by the CCECC in Abuja some months back. Your presence there, had made the event colorful and had also shown your commitment to the development of education in your state.
“From our own side, we will make sure that all taxes that are supposed to be paid to Katsina State are paid as at when due, and by so doing, we will continue to contribute to the development of the state as a university”, the VC assured.
The Vice-Chancellor then informed the Executive Governor of the University’s plan to host its maiden matriculation ceremony which was expected to be held on Saturday, 21st September, 2024.
He used the opportunity to invite the governor to the event, saying that the event would be graced by many important personalities across the country.
Prof. Katsayal then congratulated His Excellency for excellent performance in office within a year he meritoriously served the state, stating that the town hall meeting recently hosted by the Governor had brought the government closer to its people.
Responding to the Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Mal. Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D. thanked the Management of the University for the visit and commended them for commencing academic activities despite many challenges.
While pledging the Government’s unflinching support to the University, Governor Radda encouraged the Vice-Chancellor and his management staff to maintain the tempo and ensure that standards were not in any way violated.
Governor Radda further assured the Vice-Chancellor that he would continue to encourage the CCECC to do more for the University, and the state government would never seize to support the baby University until it reached maturity.
